Records continue to be broken in renewable electricity generation in Türkiye. According to data published by the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ), 20.3 million MWh of electricity generated in July, corresponding to 58.44% of total electricity generation, came from renewable energy sources. This represents the highest share of renewable energy recorded in July since TEİAŞ began publishing the relevant data on January 1, 2016.

Cengiz Enerji, a group company of Cengiz Holding, Türkiye’s largest private-sector electricity generator, produced 504,829 MWh of electricity from renewable sources in July, corresponding to 2.49% of the total electricity generated from renewable sources in Türkiye. Through this generation, Cengiz Enerji provided renewable energy equivalent to the consumption of approximately 2.5 million people.

“RECORD GENERATION WAS ALSO ACHIEVED IN PREVIOUS MONTHS”

Cengiz Enerji CEO Ahmet Türkoğlu noted that the company is increasing its renewable energy generation while contributing to Türkiye’s energy transition, and said:

“At our power plants generating electricity from renewable sources, we achieved significant generation figures in recent months. Thanks to the heavy rainfall during the winter months, we reached a five-year generation record, particularly at our hydropower plants (HPPs).

“In July, the sector as a whole achieved a record share of renewable electricity generation in Türkiye. We are pleased to have made a significant contribution to our country’s renewable energy generation. Meeting Türkiye’s growing energy needs while strengthening energy supply security and accelerating the transition to a lower-carbon generation structure remain among our top priorities.

“In the coming period, we aim to further increase the share of renewable energy in our generation portfolio by expanding our renewable energy investments, particularly in wind and solar power. We will continue investing in Türkiye’s energy transition and contributing to a stronger and more energy-independent future for our country.”

TOTAL INSTALLED CAPACITY REACHES 5,162 MW
